How to use SVN with Emacs (psvn cannot create a tunnel)

We just installed svn in my office. TortoiseSVN works (using putty to do the ssh thing - sorry if it's not entirely clear, I'm new to svn, I've always used cvs). I found psvn for emacs, which seems pretty standard. When I tried to run it, it said it couldn't find svn. So I downloaded the client from tigris.org, which actually redirected me to a place called CollabNet where I registered a username and password to download the svn client - still not sure what that means.

Anyway. A short history of Looong: now emacs tells me "Unable to create tunnel: the system cannot find the file specified." when i try to show the changelog of a file.

Can anyone tell me how to set up svn with emacs? He doesn't have to follow the steps above, I can start over. I just want the client to work with emacs.

Found the following and works:

Set the following environment variable (by right clicking on My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Environment Variables, New): -

Variable name: SVN_SSH

Variable value: C: \\ Program Files \\ TortoiseSVN \\ bin \\ TortoisePlink.exe

("\\" is very important, otherwise it won't work. Equally you can't use plink.exe that comes with a putty like that which launches a command shell window which is really annoying. TortoisePlink.exe is a windows implementation of plink that doesn't bring up any UI)

If TortoiseSVN already works for you, try using "tortoise-svn.el"

tortoise-svn.el
