ASP.NET Development Web Server

I had VS 2005 with version 2.0. Then I recently installed NDoc and only supported v1.1, so it installed v1.1 on top of 2.0. This is fine because both versions can coexist, but what it did was messed up by some tweaks with:

a) The web server that comes with ASP.NET is the one with which you start your web services in debug mode.

b) CLR settings for SQL Server (but that doesn't bother me)

c) IIS settings (but I fixed that by re-registering IIS with 2.0)

What I'm worried about right now is a broken ASP.NET web server that won't let me debug my web services or even have another project in the same solution creating a web link to it.

I cannot generate proxies in Visual Studio because of this and cannot set a web reference to the web service in the same solution (since it has to do with generating the proxy).

Please note that I can call wsdl.exe. But I don't want to deploy my service yet. I just want all projects to be in the same solution, referencing ws as small children.

When I try to create a web link to a WS project in my solution, I keep getting this error:

Server error in application "/".

Analyzer error Description. An error occurred while parsing a resource required to service this request. Review the following parsing error details and modify the original file accordingly.

Parser error message: Could not create type 'DaWS.PhoneDirectory'.

Source error:

Line 1: <% @WebService Language = "C #" CodeBehind = "PhoneDirectory.asmx.cs" Line 2: Class = "DaWS.PhoneDirectory"%>

Source file: /PhoneDirectory.asmx Line: 2

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version: 2.0.50727.3082; ASP.NET Version: 2.0.50727.3082

This has been around from time to time and I've worked with deployment in IIS.

Other than reinstalling Visual Studio, does anyone have a better solution?

Create a new web service and don't change it at all. See if it works.

BTW, the fact that this page displays .NET 2.0 and not 1.1 suggests the version is not a problem.
