BIRT: PDF - Generation Time
I have a report where it takes about 39 seconds to generate the html for the preview. When I try to view the pdf report it fails for 4 minutes. This is normal? My other reports have about 50% of the time - the difference is at the maximum. If this is not ok, how can I speed up the creation of the report in pdf?

I would say a 6x increase in PDF to HTML generation time is not expected.
Most of my reports take no more than two times to export to PDF than HTML. XLS export sits between HTML and PDF.
I was able to get some runtime optimization by splitting some datasets and merging others. Some experimentation can give you good results.
However, it is important to note that my optimization has been extended across all export types, not just PDF.
It doesn't help much, but it gives you a try.
