Test Data Generation Tool
Your question is pretty open-ended ...
You can find some data useful for testing in many areas commonly associated with natural languages โโby searching for the word corpus.
If you want to generate random data, go ahead and hack the Perl script ... but:
- Beware of a computer caused by randomness that might harm you ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_number_generator ).
- The data being tested is really useful when you know what the result of computing yor should be, otherwise you don't know if your test succeeds.
I've seen many people generate tons of data to test the performance of their code, forgetting to check that the result is correct.
If you're fortunate enough to be able to travel around the world with compression / decompression, for example, random data generation can provide useful and neat corner cases that you wouldn't even think of.

Well, what's the big context? There are usually specialized tools in certain areas. I am mostly aware of MS technology where "data dude" can generate database test data data, and (unrelated) PEX can use parsing to find data hitting your unusual code branches ... but for more specific scenarios, you may need to create your own instrument.

This is a very open question. While for sure the test data wants to test specific test cases, so as Mark says, writing your own tool might be the best way to go, I doubt a generic tool will give you what you need. However, if you explain your scenario, it may be easier to help you.

The question is very open. But I ran into the problem many times while trying to automate my wrt test data If this is the context you are looking for my answer you can help you.
For a test data generation tool, you can take a look at the Grid toolbox . They have a set of functionality and applications that can generate test data in the required format and store it in local mySQL / excel tables.
Please note that this is not a free tool, it includes a license fee.
