IPhone TableView over TextView: TableView not responding to events

Consider the correct form on the iPhone:

1. Aggregate.

2. The combo box has a TextView. (No overlaps)

3. When the combobox is clicked, the TableView options open and overlap with the TextView.

4. TableView sits on top of TextView.

5. When a cell in the TableView touches, the TextView responds, the TableView does not receive an event.

Now I can see that the responder chain is from bottom to top. Thus, the TextView receives the event because its depth is lower than the TableView.

What is the best way to solve this problem?

Can your TextView be set as a TableView delegate?



If you use event methods such as didSelectRowAtIndexPath then your delegates may not be assigned properly. If you are using touch events, multitouch may not be enabled in table view.
