What's the fastest way to compare 2 strings in SQL?

I have two different databases. When changing something in a big (I don't have access) I get some rows imported to my databases in a HUGE table like this. I have a validation check for records in this table, and if there are any, execute the stored procedure, process and delete from the table.

  • Performance

... (Huge amount of data) I would like to know what is the fastest way to find out if something has changed using 2 imported rows of 100 columns. You don't have FK-s, don't need it. Chances are, although I have records in my table, nothing has changed.

  • Besides. Let's say that something has actually changed. Is it possible, for example, to only check for changes inside datetime columns?

thanks

You can always use the update trigger - this will give you access to two logical tables inserted

and updated

. You can compare their values and base your action on the results.
