UIImagePicker in full screen mode on iPad

For my tests, I need to create a simple iPad app for step 1.loads an image from a photo library (UIImagePickerController). Step 2. This image is then converted to texture and displayed as OpenGL ES.

I started defining an application using the Xcode Open GL ES template. Step 2 - Okay. But I have a problem starting the UIImagePickerController (step 1).

On iPad, in order to create a UIImagePickerController, we need to use a UIPopoverController. But to create the UIPopover, we need to attach it to the content controller.

In my application, I don't want to define a specific view controller (Navigation or SplitView or TabBar ...). I just need the UIImagePicker to show up in full screen when the application starts.

I am looking for a programmatic solution with minimal lines of code added from the Open GL ES iPad template to complete step 1 (step 2 is fine for me).

any code available? thanks for the help Seb

I faced the exact same exact problem as you and I think that access to the Camera Roll could be purposefully blocked by Apple as they specifically mention opening access to the Camera Roll in version 4.0 of iPhoneOS while the current consumer is iPad / Phone OS 3.2. 4.0 will be available to us in the summer for the iPhone, but I haven't heard of the same as true for the iPad. I hope, I hope. Feel free to drop me a line if you see this :-) Thanks and good luck!
