Click to activate VS2005 Toolbars in Vista triggers a double click
I was constantly dealing with it, and suddenly I thought: maybe someone else ran it!
In Visual Studio 2005 on Vista x86, when I click on a toolbar that has no focus, it does a double click. It has to do with property window, toolbar, error list, output window, etc.
Some things I noticed:
- This happens on a completely fresh install of VS2005 which excludes my add-ons and macros.
- This happens on two different Vista machines, but not every XP machine I've used.
- I don't use any weird apps to support my Logitech mouse or other system background mouse stuff.
- This is unique to VS2005: no other application I use has this problem.
UPDATED:
- I've tried working as administrator. One of my Vista machines, I have UAC disabled - no difference.
- VS2005 SP1 is installed, Vista SP1 is installed, and there is a Vista update for VS2005 SP1 too. Completely fixed.
- I went through all the release notes I could find and notes about Microsoft 2005, but nothing about the weird GUI.
Does anyone else come across this? My workaround is to right click on the toolbar first and then I can do what I need. BLEH.

Have you installed the VS2005 SP1 update for Vista? Are you working as an administrator? Here's a low level from Microsoft on Vista / VS2005 .
