How to quickly create aliases with absolute paths?

I am often mistaken about creating aliases:

ln -S $Personal/Books $Buy/Books (1)

Instead, I need to write the entire path to get the last command:

ln -S /Users/user/something/.../Books /Users/user/something/.../Books (2)

I would love to get something similar to (1) working. It takes a long time (2). How can I quickly create absolute paths for aliases?

I am assuming that in your example the Personal and Buy paths are both directories in your home directory. Then you can create a relative symbolic link by typing

cd Buy
ln -s ../Personal/Books Books
