Is SQL Server the Best Database Image Storage and Comparison Database for a Small Ecommerce Application

I am trying to create a small eCommerce web application using MS Dot Net framework. The application will allow the user to save an image of their product that they want to sell or buy, then they will have the option to download an image of a specific product and compare that image with similar images in the database. So my two main concerns are: - Is MS SQL a good option for storing and comparing images. - Is there any other better database that can do the same job with less work complexity and that also integrates easily with MS dot net.

The MS SQL and Visual Studio integration is very good, better than any other database, so you are right about using MS SQL.

However, the solution to store binaries in a database is a subject that has advantages and disadvantages, you can read:

Or look for forums, a lot has been written about this.

Also: SQL Server can provide another option using FILESTREAM as well:

Depending on the size of the images, you might be better off storing them on the file system and only keeping a link to the file's location in the database.

SQL Server 2008 also supports FILESTREAM Storage . Can be a good way to manage images using the file system's file management capabilities.
