Using Three20 TTThumbsViewController in combination with TabBarController

I am trying to get TTThumbsViewController to work with the app bar and navigation. Bit-bet, I solved most of the problems. The first problem is what I see when I get to what should be a full screen view of the image. It creates a white box that had a status bar. See screenshots ...

I ended up adding a view controller to the navigation controller and demonstrating it.

My PhotoBrowserViewController is a subclass of TTThumbsViewController

PhotoBrowserViewController *photoView = [[PhotoBrowserViewController alloc] init];
photoView.delegate = self;
photoView.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;

UINavigationController *photoNav = [[UINavigationController alloc] init];
[photoNav pushViewController:photoView animated:NO];
[photoView release];

[self presentModalViewController:photoNav animated:YES];

[photoNav release];

I did this code when I started iPhone development, and maybe crap. Since then, I have avoided tab controllers due to all the problems I encountered with them.
