What tools do you use to share knowledge among developers in your company?

I'm looking for good tools to help share tips, tricks, company standards, etc. among the developers at my company. The two tools I am currently looking at are the wiki (virtuoso wiki) or Sharepoint 2010. I am wondering if there is something more appropriate for the task, or any input that anyone has on this matter. I would prefer something that is Windows based (i.e. runs on IIS, can authenticate users to Active Directory, etc.), but I'm open to anything.

Well, you are right, the most suitable computer tool is the Wiki. There are many engines available. We are using Atlassian Confluence . It is good to write things down with a lot of formal detail. As a description of the client-server protocol, or game / interface design documents.

However, for sharing tips, best practices, interesting research, etc. no tool can overcome live conversations! I have come to this conclusion many times. Daily standups and pair programming lead to a much more efficient exchange of information than any computer tool I have ever seen.

At my company we use a private installation of MediaWiki. It works very well for our needs.

Publicly, we share DocForge programming knowledge .
