Drupal vs FatWire - Any thoughts?
the company I am working on is considering using a CMS, obviously two of the CMSs on offer are Drupal and FatWire.
FatWire is proprietary and quite expensive, so there doesn't seem to be a lot of community around the product. The functionality appears to be extensive, although a few design options seem counter-intuitive and over-tightened.
Drupal is instead open source and has a large community supporting the product. There are many books out there and the use seems more intuitive.
Functionality wise I'm not sure how they compare. The main features that the team team seems to like are the team workflow features and version control (present in FatWire, although the implementation seems rather limited).
Hopefully some of you guys have come across these two products before and he may have a few suggestions.
Help would be greatly appreciated!

They are very different products - apples and oranges - so it will depend on your organization and your needs.
For example, all the features listed on the FatWire website can be easily and quickly integrated into your Drupal installation .... if you already have someone who knows Drupal. If you don't have that kind of experience at home and don't have enough time and resources to educate someone, then FatWire can save you a lot of time and make it worse.
Broadly speaking, Drupal is probably the more powerful of the two in the long run. But this is a modular system, and there is no real centralized brain to control everything. It will take a little time before your team can get to the point where they know the right module to solve a specific problem or the most efficient way to create specific pages.
Depending on which site it costs your company and how much you expect, it might be easier for you to get a paid product that suits your needs right out of the box.
