{"An attempt was made to read or write protected memory. This often indicates that other memory is corrupted."}

I created a simple application framework around Unity. That is, Form and User Elements are described as xml and dynamically created. I have a form that contains a ComboBox that, when closed, raises the error below. The problem does not occur if the ComboBox is replaced with a ListBox control.

Some searches brought up some posts about a patch that I was unable to install. KB923028

{"An attempt was made to read or write protected memory. This often indicates that other memory is corrupted." }

I've seen things like this where the control uses XP / Vista style and then launches on an older version of Windows.

I saw this error when I install a new font on my system. Have you installed a new font, or a program that recently installed new fonts?

Are other .net programs running correctly? If not, your best bet is probably to reinstall the .NET framework.

Just hit this on Windows XP when trying to switch the system display to "Extra Large Fonts" while my .NET application is running.

It looks like it has something to do with the wrong font or similar.

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
