What's the problem with duplicate vcard?

No software I've seen can sync contacts between Outlook and my cell without creating duplicates . It would seem that someone had sync in mind when they came up with the format. Is it impossible for programmers to work around this problem?

I had the same problem using Nokia and Samsung's own software (and a free Nokia program that I can't remember now) and found that none of them handle duplicates. To program it, you can either copy one way, clear the original device, and copy again, or copy, remove duplicates, and then copy back.
