How do I recover SQL Server 2000 from corrupted backup files?

I am using SQL Server 2000. I have a corrupted backup file. How do I recover the database from this corrupted backup file? Any help or suggestions are really appreciated.

Do you have a specific bug? Right now your only hope is actually a file, but you are not using the correct syntax or what you need to recover. There are products like SQL log explorer that let you peek into the native log file format, but I've never seen anything comparable for a backup file.
