Unlimited disk space / bandwidth to host ASP.NET and PHP site?
We are thinking of using Dotnetnuke (ASP.NET) as a platform for building an asp.net social networking site. Surprisingly, it is hard to find it in web hosting with unlimited disk space / badnwidth to store / stream a lot of photos / videos.
On the other hand, PHP hosting companies provide unlimited disk space / bandwidth. Check here
So, I have two questions:
1) Does the disk space / bandwidth in the web hosting scenario have anything to do with technology (PHP / ASP.NET) and OS (Windows / Linux)?
2) Recommending hosting providers with disk space / bandwidth to host ASP.NET website.

The reason you cannot find it is because there are no hosts that can offer you unlimited bandwidth, because it is a finite resource. Check the terms of all of these offers and you will see that they usually mean "no restrictions" when they say "unlimited", but they are not the same as "you can use any bandwidth."
Using this list you gave, I went to HostMonster, which happens to be at the top of the list, and they state in their terms:
What does "no limit" mean . HostMonster.Com does not set an arbitrary limit or limit on the amount of resources that a single Subscriber can use .... snip ... As a result, a typical website may experience periods of great popularity and, as a result, increase storage without experiencing any the associated increase in hosting costs .
Basically, if you get slashdotted, then they won't chop you off. This is not the same as being constantly busy.
What "Unlimited" does NOT mean. ... snip ... HostMonster.Com's offer of "unlimited" services is not intended to cause one or more Subscribers to act unfairly or negatively affect the experience of other Subscribers.
HostMonster.Com is a public hosting service which means multiple subscriber websites are hosted on the same server and share server resources . HostMonster.Com's services are designed to meet the typical needs of small businesses and home businesses. Subscribers in the United States. It is NOT designed to support sustained demand for large enterprises, international enterprises, or custom applications more suited to a dedicated server .
If you want the same bandwidth as you need, you need to pay for it.
