Change the IIS server name

I have a certificate that is valid for * .MyCompany. com . This is ok for my dev and test servers, because the first part of the urls for those computers ends up like this.

I want to check this on my computer and the certificate is incorrect because my computer uses the MyComputer.MyCompany address by default. net .

Is there a way to spoof IIS to think my computer is .MyCompany. com , or am I out of luck when it comes to testing this?

Thanks, Vaccano

You must be able to edit the host header values for the IIS website to accept * .mycompany.com. For DNS to resolve properly and work properly, you may need to add an entry to your Windows hosts file - mycomputer.mycompany.com 127.0.0.1. which will allow you to test locally.

Another option is to use a self-signed certificate for local development.

you can edit the hosts file and add an entry at http://you.yourcompany.com to the local ip or 127.0.0.1

Edit c: \ Windows \ System32 \ drivers \ etc \ hosts with a text editor.

save it and you can hit your own IIS using the new fake name.
