Modify EXE to stop Firefox from starting
I am using a wireless modem program from my ISP. This program will automatically shut down when it detects that the line is idle. He does this after 2-5 minutes of inactivity. Whenever I reconnect, it automatically launches my default browser to the ISP portal. I have NOT paid them to shove my web portal in their face 50 times a day. The ISP does not provide any options to disable this behavior. Can someone please show me how to edit an EXE program to stop it from annoying me?

If this is the route you want to take, find a free hex editor for your system: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_hex_editors
And then look for clues. If it's obvious, you can do something about it. Again, maybe not.
You can also look for programs that specifically deal with this annoyance, such as programs that make a network request so often to keep the connection active.
