Undead Windows 7

I created a Windows 7 service in Visual Studio 2010. The test installation crashed and left a lot of garbage: showing services in the service list but not starting ( Referenced file does not exist

), unable to uninstall ( Action valid only for services that are installed

), and not showing in the Programs and Features applet.

Is there a list of installed services that I could hack?

This should be what you are looking for:

You can determine the name of a service by first creating a list of services by going to Start → Run ... and then typing "services.msc" and pressing enter. You should see your service listed. Then right-click it and see what it says for "service name" (usually an abbreviation).

Good luck.
