Learning Django as an Experienced ASP.NET Developer

I understand MVC concept perfectly, although I have never developed anything more in ASP.NET MVC, but I have been developing ASP.NET pages for many years now.

So, is there a good tutorial, or even better: a book suitable for ASP.NET developer and making comparisons? I am especially looking for information on Django reuse / on how to work with components, etc.

I am not aware of anything specifically what ASP.NET code will compare to Django / Python. However, there are tons of good books out there. Practical Django Projects 2nd Edition by James Bennett is a great book. It has some sample applications you can create.

There's also Pro Django by Marty Alchin, which really hits some of the guts of Django. There is no "tutorial" information here. It is rather just an extension of the documentation.

Both of these books talk about reusability in Django, but they don't go into that much detail. One of the design goals of Django was to keep things modular and reusable. Because of this, there are many mostly plug and play applications that you can add to your project.

Once you know how Django works, you should check out Virtualenv and pip to manage each of your projects. It helps a ton.
