Building a custom BSD version that only supports Java

What is the process I should be using to achieve the goal of making a version of FreeBSD that is capable of running a Java virtual machine, but not capable of any other functionality, including but not limited to:

  • Starting any process other than Java VM
  • Disable access to all / all shells
  • When Java VM exits, OS shuts down

I need to support JDK 1.6, so approaches like SANOS don't work.

  • Set up an init script to start the JVM after user authentication.
  • Remove the line in one of the init scripts that spawn the shell, usually after user authentication.
  • There should be a listener for Java processes if it doesn't find any parameters, fire "init 0" or "shutdown" or "poweroff"

The Sanos operating system kernel is a project that does just that, except that instead of the JVM, FreeBSD uses the JVM for Windows. The only downside is the functionality that the JVM needs.
