High sys cpu and high ithr in pmap on solaris

I have a mysql database running on solaris, from mpstat I can see the thread has a very high and high sys cpu. How can I find where the ithr is coming from and why the CPU sys is relatively high?

Perhaps it is the NIC interrupt overhead. mpstat will show high iTr values for a processor handling any NIC or HBA, and a correspondingly high sys. If you have Solaris 10, intrstat will show you exactly how much time was spent processing hardware interrupts per processor.

Sun Studio Tools includes a performance analyzer that is designed to take advantage of all the latest Solaris features. You can try using it to collect data on mysql server. We're getting close to the next official release, but you can use the recent "express" release to check out the latest features. It's not open source, but it's free to use. http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express/index.jsp
