Jumbo Packet with 1 Gigabit Ethernet support
I would like to learn about Jumbo Packets using UDP in 1 Giga etherent.
What are the delays in such a system?
I am thinking about using jumbo packages on my system because I need to transfer a lot of data between two computers.
I tried to find information on latencies and what are the disadvantages of using jumbo packets at 1 gigabit - I didn't find many. (I find many advantages, but I would like to know also disadvantages)
Thank you for help,

The biggest problem you can run into is hardware not supporting jumbo frames. Be aware that if you have a large network, switches or routers that do not support jumbo frames will drop them, since the standard Ethernet frame size is 1518 octets - hardware that is not aware of jumbo frames will assume that after of this, the number of octets is the CRC of the data, and the frame drop after receiving a mismatch.
Additionally, jumbo frames are said to damage multimedia applications that require short response times. This seems rather odd to me because setting the maximum MTU to something larger than the standard does not change the minimum frame size on the interface, so small frames can be sent safely.
