Generating mailing lists in JavaScript

I am using Rails 2.2 as well as the standard JavaScript libraries, we also jQuery.

Given, can anyone advise me on a starting point in creating a UI component that will allow users to create a bulleted list by adding bullets / removing cartridges / indenting, etc.? I am not obligated to use the libraries we already have, but I find it preferable.

Have you tried something like TinyMCE? You can customize it to have whatever controls you want.

Would a tree plugin be used for you ? It is not a bulleted list, but it is a ready-made component that will allow you to create an ordered set of items.
