Keybd_event () doesn't work in ACTIVEX module with IE PROTECTED MODE

keybd_event () doesn't work in module ACTIVEX with PROTECTED MODE - I'm using activex, which mimics keypress, but it just doesn't do anything with newer IE8.

  keybd_event(VK_SPACE, MapVirtualKey(VK_SPACE, 0), 0, 0);
  keybd_event(VK_SPACE, MapVirtualKey(VK_SPACE, 0), KEYEVENTF_KEYUP, 0);

Is there a trick to get around this problem?

I'm afraid not. To offer improved security, IE8 now hosts tabs and add-ons loaded into separate processes with limited permissions . Like Chrome and the new FireFox 4 will do.

I have the same problem with BHO. It works first, then stops, and also sometimes throws an instance of the iexplore.exe tab.



I found that the IE8 version of ieframe.dll seems to use the Detours library to connect multiple Windows APIs including SendInput and keybd_event.
