Add a new field to an existing built-in iPhone app

I have one doubt here to ask you, kindly help me by suggesting his solution.

I need to add one custom field to my existing built-in Contact iPhone app.

I mean I need to allow the user to set different icons or logos for different contacts. so I need to add one field, namely an icon or logo in an existing application.

But I don't know how to do it, weather is possible or not or is there an alternative solution for this or not ???

You cannot add fields to the built-in address book storage. You could achieve your goals with one of two solutions:

  • make a copy of the data and add your data to it. You will run into sync issues.
  • Use some property (probably ABPropertyID) of the AB information to specify a local database referencing your icons.


I guess what you really want to do is add an icon to your address book application - there is no way to do this.
