C # Where can I find the names of Microsoft names?

I am using MS namespace, but Visual Studio tells me that I have no reference to it. Is there a place where you can go and look for namespaces?

thanks

If you mean "find which dll I need (for each type)": MSDN ?

For instance, CLSID

Namespace: Microsoft.Aspnet.Snapin

Assembly: AspNetMMCExt (in AspNetMMCExt.dll)

You can usually find the MSDN page about a specific namespace by going to http://msdn.microsoft.com/ namespace. So, for example, to learn about System.Web you can go to ...

http://msdn.microsoft.com/system.web

This alone will not help. You will need to navigate from there to the specific types you are using and it will tell you (at the top) the name of the DLL that implements the type.

Remember that a namespace can contain types that are defined in more than one DLL.

You will also need an assembly.

For the Microsoft and System namespace, the easiest is http://msdn.microsoft.com/library or, if MSDN is installed locally, its index.

If you want to know which assembly is in a particular class, you can simply check the documentation (it is noted on the class overview page for the class). Note that one namespace can be very common in more than one assembly.

You need to add the DLL reference first before you can use it in your code with the using keyword.

Right click on the project> add link> on the .Net tab, select the component and click OK. Then build your code.

You cannot find the DLL for the specified namespace in all cases, because multiple types belonging to the same assembly may be in different assemblies.

The fastest way to get there is to go to the MSDN page for the specific type (class) you are using. Let's say XDocument .. I put the msdn xdocument class on google. The first result is the page I want. Click! Below the class name, you will see a section like this

Namespace: System.Xml.Linq
Assembly: System.Xml.Linq (in System.Xml.Linq.dll)

This shows the namespace that the type belongs to (for which you may need to add usage in your code)
and the DLL you need to "Add Reference" to.
