Spam in VS2010 Extension Manager

What's with all the spam (free tests, etc. from Component One and Telerik among others) in VS 2010 Extensions Manager. Without going to the site, you can't tell if the listing is free or trial, so for me all the custom behavior of the extension manager is ruined.

Anyone else find this? Is there a way to suppress them?

One thing that helps a little is browsing the Tools in particular. I tried adding things like -trial

or -componentone

, but it seems like extension / gallery manager is ignoring -

. I will email some people to see if this can be fixed.

If you go to the visual studio gallery web page, ( http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ ), on the left you can click Categories, versions, etc., which will filter out unnecessary addons.

For example, I am filtering on VS 2010 and Free. This gives out paid and free trials like dips in ComponentOne and Telerik.

Try it: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/site/search?f%5B0%5D.Type=CostCategory&f%5B0%5D.Value=0&f%5B0%5D.Text=Free&f%5B1% 5D.Type = VisualStudioVersion & f% 5B1% 5D.Value = 10.0 & f% 5B1% 5D.Text = Visual% 20Studio% 202010
