Oracle Sql Developer vendor code 1317

I am using Oracle Sql Developer to view a MySQL database. When I view a table with Columns tabs (showing table definitions) some tables will display an error dialog that says Vendor ID 1317. Does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thanks,

/ Z

Are you using the latest version of SQL Developer?

It might be worth asking this question on the OTN SQL Developers Forum as it is well supported by the Oracle SQL Developer team.

I had a quick search and the only thread I could find is one in which one of the answers reports the same problem as you but unfortunately there is no direct answer to it.

SQL Developer does not support jvbc mysql series in 5.1.x format ... you need to configure sql developer to use mysql-connector-java-5.0.4 in driver settings. You are better off using this because I have a problem even with mysql-connector-java-5.0.8

To view a MYSQL database with Oracle SQL Developer version (version 2.1.2.64) and avoid the mentioned issue, you must use the mysql / J connector: mysql-connector-java-5.0.4.

mysql-connector-java-5.0.8 or mysql-connector-java-5.1. * DOES NOT WORK.

1317 appears to be mySQL code for ER_QUERY_INTERRUPTED. Maybe some kind of timeout?

Please check the following link for the answer

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15846_01/doc.21/e15222/intro.htm#CHDIEGDD

This is an excerpt from the above link:

Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers

The Third Party JDBC Drivers Panel specifies the drivers to use to connect to third party (non-Oracle) such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver to connect to Microsoft Access databases.) To add, click the Add entry button and select the path for the driver:

For IBM DB2: db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar which are available from IBM

For MySQL: a file with a similar name to mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar, in the directory under which you unzipped the MySQL driver

For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar which is included in jtds-1.2-dist.zip download

For Teradata: tdgssconfig.jar and terajdbc4.jar which are included (along with the readme.txt file) in TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.zip or TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.tar download

Alternative: Alternatively, using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.

To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the respective website. For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later with the SQL Developer 1.5 release.

You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using Check for Updates before you can create a database connection with a third-party database of that associated type. (See Tabs for creating third-party database connections in Create / Edit / Select Database Connection.)
