What's the best forum plugin solution for the Symfony framework?
I am looking for a good solution for integrating a forum into a symfony application.
Something like phpBB would be great. I've seen phpBB plugins integrate with symfony, but that's not enough for my purposes, and database table mapping is a lame approach in my opinion.
If anyone knows a good working forum for symfony I would really appreciate it. :)
Also, it should work with Doctrine.
Thanks!

If you discount the prestaForumConnectorPlugin that connects sfGuard and PHPBB3, you might have to write your own connector. You should check if any resources exist on your favorite PHP forum sites.
One option is Invision Power Board (IPB) v3, as their developer resources explain how to integrate their own code (like symfony) into their system, including SSO: http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/official. html? category = 41
I included IPB v2 with symfony and it was not ideal - there was no developer interface at the time to force the IPB to comply with symfony. I had to hack the IPB source for it to work, but after discussion with Invision, I was pretty sure it wouldn't be necessary as of v3. It seems to exist now and I will begin.
NB. IPB is not free, so hopefully not for you.

I've included Phorum with symfony before - there is some old and semi-outdated documentation on the internet, but basically Phorum has an architecture that makes it easy to override user authentication. Then you will need to write a controller to also wrap the calls to the forum and apply the main site template (if you need it).

There are a couple of forums that use frmaework Symfony. They are listed on the plugins page of the Symfony Forum .
The most popular is sfSimpleForum , which was built by François Zaninotto, one of the original Symfony developers.
There has been little development in this area, perhaps because forums are “old” ways for users to interact on the Internet and are being gradually replaced by new ones.
