Processing Subscription Payments with ASP.NET
I would like to create a subscription based site with every month I receive payments. I know I need to create an account with paypal or authorize.net. Do these payment providers keep a monthly bill each month? How do I make sure to offer the service for free for 30 days and start billing thereafter?
Also, I've heard about medium services like spreedly, chargify. Where do they fit into the equation? Can anyone help me wrap my head around these concepts?
Considering I'm based in the US, but would like the payment provider to accept any currency. What payment provider do you offer?

Actually you need to set up a merchant account and a payment gateway account. A merchant account with a bank that facilitates your transactions to card issuing banks for approval. The payment gateway acts like a credit card terminal as it connects your website to your merchant account provider.
To automatically bill your customers every month, you can either build your own subscription service (a bad idea since you'll have to store the credit card information that opens up a big worm of worms, namely PCI compliance issues) or use existing services like like Authorize.Net An automatic re-billing service that handles subscriptions for you. Options such as trial periods are usually built into such services.
If you are going to accept different currencies, then your options will take a huge dive. Most US processors and payment gateways only accept payments in US dollars. International transactions also put your account at high risk, which will significantly reduce the number of providers who will accept you and offer you competitive rates.
Alternative solutions would be to use Paypal or any other third party payment provider . You lose some of the flexibility and control that you have with a real merchant account with a payment gateway, but accepting payments in different currencies and international orders becomes less of a problem.
