SSIS - setting derived dataflow column value from variable

I have an ID in a package variable that I need to add as a column (with each row having a package variable value) in Dataflow.

Is there a way to do this with just help Derived Column

?

I know I can use Derived Column

to create a new column and then set the value with Script Component

, but that seems inefficient.

Yes: add the derived column component to the dataflow, then add a row and use the variable as source. You should see the variables / columns in the upper left corner of the constructor.
