Configuring Silent Authentication Using LDAP / AD
Does anyone help with this. We're using a CMS product called Immediacy, which claims to be able to handle silent authentication using LDAP / AD, but just can't get it to work.
Ignoring Immediacy, can anyone point me to a good article or article outlining the steps to accomplish the above (assuming it's possible)?
Basically, we need to secure the pages on our intranet, and since our firm is full of "very important people" who "don't have time to enter" this is almost a requirement.
Thanks in advance. Rob

System.DirectoryServices
is what you need to use. It allows you to create an object DirectoryEntry
that defines your LDAP server location, username and password as constructors.
After you have instantiated the DirectoryEntry object, you can check if its a collection Children
null
or not; if so, it means that the user does not exist and should not be allowed access.
If you want, you can get more fancy as the collection Children
returns all the properties set for that user in LDAP (including custom ones) and get more granularity than "there or not", but that gets you started.
As far as Immediacy is concerned, it probably cannot automatically know where your LDAP server is located, so it might be that the setting is not configured properly somewhere.
