MS Project Server 2007: programmatically toggles task alerts for project resources

I get to the SDK documentation, but this site has so many eyes and great answers. I suppose I would choose this option to get some hints.

In Project Server 2007, you can control whether you receive a "Task Alert" email when a new task is assigned to you or existing tasks are modified. You can change this manually and individually via the web app in personal settings.

As a project manager, let's say I cannot switch it to the whole team or manage it from my side. So if the resource or stakeholder who is assigned the task (s) does not want to send an email every time the plan is updated, I cannot handle it for them. I would need to go through the Project Web Access application to configure it manually.

So, someone crossed this bridge, and if so, how did you toggle this flag for task alerts, either through SDK classes or PSI web services? Before I start scrolling through the docs, if I could get a "look at ..." that would be great ... Thanks!
