Compiler replacement in Visual C ++ 6

Is it possible to use Microsoft Development Studio (aka Visual C ++ 6) but replacing its terrible compiler with Visual C ++ 2005, or better yet, GCC? If so, how?

If you download and install the latest Windows SDK, it should include the latest cl.exe, link.exe, midl.exe, etc. You just need to specify the path of the executables (tools-> options-> etc) in the new SDK directory and remove the built-in VS paths.
