Why can't I drop a procedure from another schema using drop procedure statement in sql server 2005
The easiest way is:
drop procedure schemaName.procName
Receives the following msg error:
Msg 3701 Level 11 State 5 Line 2 The procedure "procName" cannot be abandoned because it does not exist or you do not have permission. Edit: I also tried using Sql based validation - still doesn't work
It's strange that I can abandon the procedure through the GUI.
I have permissions - I am running windows authentication as sysadmin
It is very difficult to offer you ideas as to why it would act like this. What you can do is open SQL Profiler and create a trace in SQL: StmtStarting / BatchStarting, RPC: Starting and SP: Starting, StmtStarting events and actually capture the crash released by SQL Server Management Studio through the interface, then compare that for the DDL that you are trying to manually record. At least then you will know exactly how SSMS does the fall.
