ASP.NET Membership Spaces in Username

We just stumbled upon a weird bug in our application that is using asp.net membership.

The administrator has created several users with spaces behind their name: "My Username" In the "Users" table this is saved normally, so no spaces: "My username", The user can also use a name without spaces: "My username" When we use User.Identity.Name in our application, the result is the WITH username with spaces: "My Username".

Where do these spaces come from? They are not stored in the Users table, where does he get this from ??

How do you determine that it is not stored in the DB with a space at the end? Are you sure SSMS isn't just hiding it from you?
