How to use Sitefinity without a Theme?

We are building a website and are not interested in creating multiple themes. We intend to just use plain old CSS and XHTML markup.

Is there a sane way to ditch the Sitefinity theme? Or is our best bet to just create a single, minimalist theme and leave it there?

Create a main theme (~ / App_Themes / Default) and then leave the directory empty. You will still apply the theme to Sitefinity pages and templates, but the theme will not have any CSS files associated with it, so it will be the same as without the theme.
