How can I convert a web page to an image using MATLAB?

This task is very difficult to complete in other programming languages,

What about MATLAB?

I'm not sure if Matlab is the best way to do it, but here's how:

  • use Matlab's built-in web function to open the web page in Matlab browser.
  • Download and use the ScreenCapture utility from Matlab File Exchange to save the screenshot to a file

If you need a finer control, you can use Java java.awt.Robot.createScreenCapture to take a screenshot, which you can then save. This can be done from within Matlab (it is actually the core of the ScreenCapture utility) or from standalone Java code ...

you can install one of these firefox plugins (along with firefox), make firefox syscall from your program with appropriate arguments for firefox and voila, you have a program that takes screenshots of a web page.

Not sure if you are looking for a pure MATLAB solution. But if you have Python, take a look at PyWebShot . Then you can simply call the Python script from MATLAB using the exclamation mark syntax , etc.

I have no idea how to do this in MATLAB (and why you would want to do it in MATLAB, unless it's part of something bigger) ... but there is a dedicated plugin for Firefox to do this ... FireShot . Works beautifully without fuss.
