How can I implement Facebook Chat on my website?

I am developing a site with something like a Digg panel at the top. One of the offered features is a live chat using Facebook. Is it possible to implement Facebook chat on my site using Facebook Connect or other methods? And if so, how?

[update] I've seen it work with Pidgin and Adium, but what I'm looking for is a site based implementation (think AJAX and HTML live at the top of the page).

It looks like the Facebook team has at least started, if not finished, implementing the xmpp / jabber interface for Facebook Chat. This will allow you to use any XMPP enabled client to connect to Facebook. However, there is at least one javascript jabber client library that I can find. Though you might have to implement a proxy on your web server to allow the JS client to talk to the Facebook server.

Also, I'm not sure how they do it, but Meebo was able to enable Facebook chat integration on their site using Facebook Connect. I didn't find anything mentioning this, but this functionality can be easily accessed via the Facebook Connect API ( documentation ).

To answer your question: Yes, it is possible.
