Clear subversion revision information

I want to delete all saved revision information except for the most recent version (to ensure a safe space). Is it possible?

Wouldn't it be easier to check out an up-to-date copy of the project, erase the repository, and use the checked out copy as the basis for a new repository.

Export the latest working copy and then import the result into a new repository. You may not be saving that much space because svn stores changes.

Not directly. What would you do:

  • Check out / Export the latest version.
  • Create a new repository.
  • Import the checked out version into the new repository.
  • Switch the old repository over to the new one.

If you can, perhaps the easiest way is to export the current version, delete the repository, and set up a new one.

For something a little more complex, there is svnadmin dump

one that can output specific versions and revision ranges: Manual

In almost all possible scenarios, the HD space is currently cheaper than the time you waste your time playing with it or later trying to figure out why / when a particular feature is implemented the way it does without its history. So if you don't have a lot of time, but we can't really spend a small amount of spending on 1TB at this time, you'd better leave the repository as it is.

It might be different if you put very large binaries into your repository, which often change so much that even the differences stored in the changeset are large. In this case, you may want to remove only those files from the repository. There are several questions here regarding SO. Here's an example.
