Can i configure healthMonitoring for classic asp in ii7?

I see that in order to display the classic asp error in ii7 I have to use web.config with asp.net configs like this:

<system.webServer>
                <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" />
                <asp scriptErrorSentToBrowser="true" />
            </system.webServer>

BUT:

Can I use healthMonitoring in classic asp to get error emails in classic asp?

tried it without getting any emails :( just redirect to the main page

As far as I know, you cannot use ASP.NET Health Monitoring for "classic" ASP sites.

This asp Element page - IIS 7 Settings Diagram on the MSDN website describes all the different attributes for a <asp>

node within a <system.webServer>

node and unfortunately no health monitoring toggle mechanism exists.

This makes sense since <system.webServer>

node handles and defines the configuration for IIS7 itself and not for the ASP.NET runtime, whereas the health monitoring functionality is specific to ASP.NET and is even implemented by classes under the .NET Framework System.Web.Management Namespace ...

However, if you want to receive email alerts whenever an error occurs in your classic ASP application, you can achieve this by setting the errorsToNTLog

<asp>

node attribute to True

:

<system.webServer>
  <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" />
  <asp scriptErrorSentToBrowser="true" errorsToNTLog="True" />
</system.webServer>

This will ensure that ASP errors that occur in your application are logged in the Windows event log. You can then track these errors with a separate utility that will disable email notification to you when an event log entry is written.

A detailed explanation of how this can be achieved, and the various tool options (open source, commercial, or even custom VBScript) required to accomplish this, can be found in this ServerFault post:

Windows Event Log - Email Notification
