How do I proceed to create a node to node relationship that inherits the node status

I've tried using Drupal 5 and 6 and can't seem to find a solution ...

I've been trying for months to get this seemingly simple functionality. simple example:

you create a book (parent) with 10 pages (children). If you delete or don't publish the book, the kids stay. it doesn't make any sense to me.

So my question is how to achieve this, not necessarily with books, but with content types in general. a few things to consider:

I've tried node relative relativity. I've tried node hierarchy

I was hoping that maybe I could use the comments as they provide perfect functionality (remove the node and all comments will be removed). I know there are comments as nodes as nodes (there is a module and I tried it). But the problem is that I need multiple content types and multiple comment types because I also use post quotas and need a content type, but only to post 10 comments, but content type b to post 20 comments. there is no comment type, so this is not an option. Does anyone have any idea?

Putting this in a module would be pretty straightforward, it's just a matter of implementing hook_nodeapi () to propagate your exceptions and status changes to kids books. I don't really know the book module, but I would guess it's relatively easy to find the children of the book node.

I haven't used these modules, but together they seem like they can provide a solution for cascading node deletion that is referenced by another:

And also referential integrity for CCK (sorry, couldn't include a link for this due to the 1 link limit on comments)

This is an old post, but I suppose I should leave some information I was looking into ... although I still don't have an answer.

This is very important when trying to find a solution.

PS: I just updated this post with more information on the topic: http://groups.drupal.org/node/23899
