How to store large string data in a SQL Server 2005 database?

I have 100,000 IDs to store in our database. The id is in the format string.each contains 10 char. So what is the best data type for this data?

I used vrchar (max), text, but my problem is not resolved.

So please help me.

why not just varchar (10) if it's max. length? this way you avoid off-line storage. While you need a good reason for storing a numeric column in a non numeric column ...

If each id is exactly 10 characters then use char (10) field

varchar (10) if you have one id per string and up to 10 characters

All 100000 in one varchar (max) is just wrong ... or did I misunderstand your intent?
