Why is vs2008 express showing me the source code for another dll project?
I am completely new to .net, especially since C # 3.0, and I am working on an access database wrapper application because we need to protect the password and database contents from direct access by a third party developer.
I am currently testing to write a simple client application to run functions in a dll and for my surprise, every time I hit an error, I can see all the source codes in this project that show the exact source code.
So, I know that there is probably a lot of obvious material missing here, but how do I code it to prevent this from happening, so we can hide the code in the dll from a third party developer? Or is it a setting that only occurs because both projects are on my computer?
thanks:)
Update:
After browsing for a while, I found this previous discussion of a good obfuscator tool and I am trying to use this tool called Eazfuscator.Net and after dll obfuscation, I try to view it again using the .net reflector or debugging it through vs express2008, nothing shows anymore: )

You see the exact code because the source is on your computer, however it would be trivial for a third party developer to reverse engineer the code from the DLL using a tool like Reflector . To prevent something like this, you can use the Dotfuscator utility (you may need a paid version instead of a community version) to make it harder to recover code from intermediate code.
