Sending Email in SQL Server 2008

What are some strategies for programmatically configuring the mail interface between pop3 mailbox and sql server database?

I would like to be able to set up an account like " sqldb@mydomain.com " and any email sent to that email address, I would like to send the email address to senders, subject and message body into a table (for simplicity, let's say that the table is called "email" and has only three columns).

What are some of the options available for this?

I recommend writing a Windows service that checks your mailbox periodically. I found this example for reading POP3 email:

and also this one:

You can use a .NET component like:

The scheduled task then starts a process that checks incoming messages every X minutes, reads new emails, and writes them to the database.
