Azure Web Job - remote server returned 404

I have a web based web job that listens to a queue start

and stops queue

with their respective functions. There are 3 predefined processes in the web job, and the queue start

contains a message that mentions the name of the process to be started, while the queue stop

contains a message that mentions the name of the process to be stopped.

When a webjob stops a process, it is reset and restarted with the above exception from the last 4 weeks.

Executing: 'Functions.StartProcess' because New queue message detected on 'start'.
Updated the status of Process A to 1
Process A Started
Process A processed 200 records
Process A processed 200 records
Process A processed 200 records
Process A processed 200 records
Process A processed 200 records
Executing: 'Functions.StopProcess' because New queue message detected on 'stop'.
Process A stopped
Disposed Process A
Updated the status of Process A to 3

The webjob doesn't even contain any code to delete the blob file.

During debugging, the debugger does not point to any particular line, throwing an exception, and hence I have no idea what the actual cause is.

PS : it worked fine before and every function body is wrapped in a try catch block. The catch block does not cancel the exception, it just registers the stack and continues.

EDIT

I needed to check if the containers were below

enter image description here

in the webjob repository and also updated the Microsoft.Web.WebJobs.Publish

nuget package . I'm really not sure if this fixes the problem though .

It looks like you were right, you really need to manually create blob containers, or publish a webJob, in which case it looks like the environment will create containers for you.

When I tried it initially, I posted it first and it worked like a charm. Second project, I do it differently, so I started the console application first and it kept crashing with 404.

So, you need to create:

  • azure-webjobs-panel
  • azure-webjobs-hosts
  • azure-job-hosts-archive
  • azure-vacancy-hostess-exit

Hope this helps someone.

I was getting the same error.

What worked for me, I was updating the package WindowsAzure.Storage

in my case from 4.3.0

to 7.1.2

, but I would go with the latest or any of your other WebJobs (if they work without issue).
